Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to thoroughly chill the glass.

2

Combine ingredients

Fill a cocktail shaker with the measured ice. Add 2 oz vodka, 1 oz triple sec, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz cranberry juice to the shaker.

3

Dry shake (optional)

If you prefer a slightly more aerated texture, briefly dry shake (shake without ice) the ingredients for about 5 seconds. This step is optional for a classic Cosmopolitan.

4

Shake with ice

Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker becomes cold and slightly frosty. This chills and dilutes the cocktail properly.

5

Strain

Discard the ice or water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (or just the Hawthorne if you don't have a fine strainer) to remove ice shards and small pulp.

Garnish

6

Garnish with a lime wheel or a thin lime twist. For a twist, peel a long strip of lime zest, twist it over the drink to release the oils, run it around the rim, then drop it in or rest it on the glass rim.
