Prepare glass (optional)
If you want a salted rim, run a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass and dip the rim into a small plate of coarse salt. Set the glass aside.
Combine ingredients
Add 2 oz blanco tequila, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz agave nectar, 0.5 oz Cointreau (or triple sec), and 2 dashes orange bitters into a cocktail shaker.
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with roughly 1 cup of ice. Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until well-chilled and the shaker exterior becomes frosty.
Garnish
Finish with a lime wheel or a twist on the rim of the glass. Serve immediately.
