Cocktail Base

Method

Rim & Prep

1

Prepare the glass

Rub the lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or margarita glass to moisten. Dip the rim into a small plate of coarse salt or Tajín (or half salt, half sugar for a sweeter rim). Set glass aside.

Mixing the Cocktail

2

Combine ingredients

Fill a cocktail shaker with 1 cup of ice. Add 2 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz triple sec (or Cointreau), 1 oz fresh lime juice, 1.5 oz cranberry juice, 0.75 oz calamansi juice (or substitute mixture), and 0.5 oz simple syrup. Ensure quantities match the ingredient list.

3

Shake

Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker exterior is very cold and well-chilled.

4

Prepare serving glass

Fill the rimmed glass with fresh ice (about 1 cup) so the cocktail stays cold and slightly diluted.

5

Strain & Serve

Double-strain the shaken cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice to remove small shards of ice and pulp, preserving a silky texture.

6

Garnish

Thread three fresh cranberries onto a cocktail pick or floating calamansi wheel and place on the rim or across the top of the glass. Optionally express a lime wedge over the drink and drop it in.

Final Touches

7

Taste and adjust: if the drink is too tart, add 0.25–0.5 oz simple syrup and stir briefly; if it needs more citrus brightness, add 0.25 oz more lime or calamansi juice and gently stir.
