Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Base Mixture

In a large glass jar, combine the grain alcohol, sugar, and water. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.

Infusion

2

Add Herbs and Botanicals

Add gentian root, sweet orange peel, cinchona bark, wormwood, hibiscus flowers, fennel seeds, cloves, cardamom pods, and mint leaves to the jar with the base mixture.

3

Add Flavor Enhancers

Split the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape the seeds into the jar. Add the whole cinnamon stick as well.

4

Seal and Infuse

Seal the jar tightly and let it infuse in a cool, dark place for 2-4 weeks. Shake the jar gently every few days to ensure even infusion.

Straining

5

Strain the Mixture

After 2-4 weeks, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean glass bottle to remove the solids.

Bottling

6

Bottle the Amaro

Transfer the strained liquid into a clean bottle. Seal tightly and label with the date of preparation.
