Chill glass
Place a rocks glass or coupe in the freezer for 5–10 minutes, or fill with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure it's well chilled.
Combine ingredients
In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice, pour Mr Black cold brew coffee liqueur (1.5 oz), aguardiente (0.5 oz), Licor 43 (0.75 oz), freshly brewed espresso if using (0.25 oz), and simple syrup (0.25 oz).
Stir or shake
If you prefer a silky, clear cocktail: stir the mixture with a bar spoon for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted. If you prefer a frothier, slightly clouded texture: shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds to create a light foam from the espresso and licor 43.
Prepare glass
Discard the ice or water from the chilled glass. If desired, rub the orange twist around the rim to add aromatic oils.
Strain the mixed cocktail into the chilled rocks glass over one large ice cube (or into the chilled coupe without ice if serving up).
Garnish and serve
Express the orange twist over the drink to release oils, then drop it into the glass. Float three coffee beans on top if desired. Serve immediately.
