Method
Cocktail
Build and shake
Add 2 oz Jim Beam, 0.5 oz Drambuie, 0.75 oz tangerine syrup, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, and 2 dashes orange bitters into a cocktail shaker. Add 4 ice cubes and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until well chilled (exterior of shaker becomes cold).
Prepare glass
Fill a rocks glass or short tumbler about three-quarters full with crushed or cracked ice (approx. 1 cup). If you prefer a slightly slushier presentation, use more crushed ice.
Strain and assemble
Fine-strain the shaken cocktail over the prepared crushed-ice-filled glass so the drink settles on top of the ice. If you prefer more dilution, strain over a few large ice cubes instead.
Finish
Gently stir the top of the drink once with a bar spoon to integrate the liquid with the crushed ice and distribute the flavors.
Garnish
Add tangerine
Express the oils of a tangerine twist over the drink by holding the twist skin-side down above the glass and giving it a quick snap, then drop the twist onto the cocktail or hook it on the rim. Alternatively, float a tangerine wheel on top of the ice.
Add mint
Slap the mint sprig once between your palms to release aroma and tuck it into the ice as an aromatic garnish, resting it against the tangerine slice or twist.
