Heat water
Bring 1 cup (240 ml) of water to a near-boil in a kettle or small saucepan. If using a tea bag, steep it in the hot water for 3 minutes and remove the tea bag before continuing.
Prepare cup
Place 1 tablespoon honey and 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice in a heatproof mug.
Taste and adjust
Taste and add more honey for sweetness, more lemon for brightness, or an additional 1/2 tablespoon whiskey for strength, according to preference.
Serve
Serve hot on a saucer or coaster to protect surfaces. Use the cinnamon stick as a stirrer if desired. Sip while warm.
