Method
Prep
Measure ingredients
Measure 2 oz gin, 1/2 oz dry vermouth, 1/2 oz sweet vermouth and 1/2 oz fresh orange juice using a jigger.
Mixing
Fill the cocktail shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Add gin, dry vermouth, sweet vermouth and fresh orange juice to the shaker.
Cap the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels very cold and the mixture is nicely diluted and slightly frothy from the orange juice.
Remove the chilled glass from the freezer or discard the chilling ice/water. Double-strain the contents of the shaker into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer (or a single strainer if you don't have a fine one) to catch ice shards and pulp.
Finish & Serve
Express the oils of an orange twist over the surface of the cocktail by holding the twist skin-side down over the drink and giving it a quick snap. Rub the twist on the rim if desired and drop it into the glass (or balance on the rim).
Serve immediately. The Bronx Cocktail is traditionally dry and bright; taste and adjust future pours of orange juice by ±1/8 oz if you prefer sweeter or more citrus character.
