Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or Nick & Nora glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill with ice water while you prepare the drink to chill it.

2

Combine ingredients

In a mixing glass, add 1.5 oz gin, 1 oz Bianco vermouth, 0.5 oz Leopold's Bitter (or similar white bitter/amaro), 0.25 oz elderflower liqueur, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup and 2 dashes orange bitters.

3

Add ice and stir

Fill the mixing glass with plenty of ice to properly chill and dilute (about 4/5 full). Stir with a bar spoon for 20–30 seconds (about 15–20 full rotations) until the outside of the glass is frosty and the liquid is well chilled and slightly diluted.

4

Strain

Discard ice/water from your chilled serving glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or Nick & Nora using a Hawthorne and/or fine strainer to remove any small ice shards and citrus solids.

Garnish & Finish

5

Express the lemon twist over the cocktail by holding it skin-side down and giving it a quick squeeze to release the oils, then run the rim of the glass with the twist and drop it into the drink.

6

Optional: slap the mint sprig between your palms to release aromatics and rest it on the surface of the cocktail for an herbaceous note. Serve immediately.
