For one 20–34 oz imported style draft (beer-based beverage)

Method

Pour and serve

1

Prepare glass

If serving in a plastic cup or taller glass and you prefer a salt rim, rub the lime wedge around the lip of the glass, then dip the rim lightly into a small plate of salt to coat. If you do not want salt, skip this step.

2

Optional ice

If using ice (common for some tall 'import' servings), add 4–6 oz of fresh ice to the glass. Note: adding ice will dilute the beer and chill it further; traditional draft is served without ice.

3

Pour beer

Hold the chilled imported lager bottle or can at a 45° angle and begin pouring gently down the side of the glass. When the glass is about two-thirds full, slowly straighten the bottle/can and finish pouring to form a beer head of about 1/2–1 inch (12 mm). Avoid aggressive pouring to limit excessive foam.

4

Garnish and serve

Squeeze the lime wedge over the beer if desired and drop it into the glass or serve the wedge on the rim. Serve immediately while cold.
