Preparation
Prepare the Ingredients
Gather all ingredients. If using optional add-ins like chicken, bell peppers, or onions, prepare them by shredding or slicing as necessary.
Mix the Cheese
In a bowl, combine shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese. If using any optional add-ins, mix them in with the cheese.
Season the Filling
Add ground cumin, salt, and black pepper to the cheese mixture. Stir well to ensure even distribution of the seasonings.
Cooking
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat until melted and hot.
Assemble the Quesadilla
Place one flour tortilla in the skillet. Spread half of the cheese mixture evenly over the tortilla. Top with another tortilla.
Cook the Quesadilla
Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom tortilla is golden brown. Carefully flip the quesadilla using a spatula, and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side until golden and the cheese is melted.
Repeat
Remove the cooked quesadilla from the skillet and place it on a cutting board. Repeat the assembly and cooking process with the remaining tortillas and cheese mixture.
Slice and Serve
Once all quesadillas are cooked, slice them into wedges and serve immediately with salsa or guacamole on the side.
