Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Ribeye Steak

Take the ribeye steak out of the refrigerator and let it rest at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This ensures even cooking.

2

Season the Steak

Pat the steak dry with paper towels. Rub the olive oil all over the steak and season generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder on both sides.

Cooking

3

Preheat the Pan

Heat a cast-iron skillet or grill pan over high heat for about 5 minutes until it's very hot.

4

Cook the Steak

Once the pan is hot, add the ribeye steak. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it to achieve a good sear. Flip the steak and cook for another 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.

5

Optional Baste

During the last minute of cooking, add a tablespoon of butter and a sprig of fresh rosemary to the pan. Use a spoon to baste the melted butter over the steak for added flavor.

6

Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for at least 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.
