Method
Brownies
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Melt the Butter
In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Combine Sugars
In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar and brown sugar. Pour the melted butter over the sugars and mix well.
Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.
Bake the Brownies
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Cool the Brownies
Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting into squares.
Assemble the Sundae
Scoop Ice Cream
Once the brownies have cooled, cut them into squares and place one square in a serving bowl.
Add Ice Cream
Top the brownie with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Drizzle with Hot Fudge
Warm the hot fudge sauce slightly and drizzle over the ice cream.
Add Whipped Cream
Top the fudge with a dollop of whipped cream.
Garnish
If desired, add chocolate shavings or sprinkles and place a cherry on top.
