Garnish & Glass Prep
Prepare the glass
Choose a rocks or coupe glass. Run the cut edge of 1 lime wedge around the rim of the glass to moisten it evenly. Pour the coarse salt onto a small plate and gently press the moistened rim into the salt, rotating to create an even salted rim. Tap off excess salt.
Cocktail
Measure & combine
In a cocktail shaker, pour 3 oz blanco tequila, 1 oz Cointreau (or triple sec), 1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice (about 1 large lime), and 0.5 oz simple syrup or agave nectar.
Add ice & shake
Add about 1 cup of ice to the shaker (enough to fill it roughly two-thirds). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds, until the outside of the shaker feels well chilled and slightly frosted. This both chills and dilutes the cocktail to proper balance.
Strain & serve
Using a julep or fine strainer, double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice if serving on the rocks, or without ice for a neat/coupe presentation. If you prefer a slightly stronger profile, serve without ice.
Garnish
Float a lime wheel on the drink or perch it on the rim. Optionally express a lime twist over the surface to release aromatic oils before dropping it in.
