Cooking Instructions

1

Rinse the Rice

Place the basmati rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch and helps prevent the rice from becoming sticky.

2

Soak the Rice (optional)

For best results, soak the rinsed rice in water for about 30 minutes before cooking. This enhances the texture and helps the grains remain separate.

3

Boil Water

In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the salt and stir to dissolve.

4

Add Rice

Once the water is boiling, add the rinsed (and soaked, if applicable) basmati rice. Stir once to prevent sticking.

5

Simmer

Cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid and reduce the heat to low. Allow the rice to simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.

6

Fluff and Serve

Remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes. Then, fluff the rice with a fork and stir in butter or oil if desired. Serve warm.
