Old Fashioned Cocktail Ingredients

Method

Old Fashioned Cocktail Directions

1

Prepare the Glass

Start by placing a sugar cube in an Old Fashioned glass. If you don't have a sugar cube, you can use about 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar.

2

Add Bitters

Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters onto the sugar cube. If you prefer a stronger flavor, you can add an extra dash.

3

Muddle Ingredients

Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, gently crush the sugar cube and bitters together until the sugar is mostly dissolved.

4

Add Whiskey

Pour 2 ounces of bourbon or rye whiskey into the glass over the muddled sugar and bitters mixture.

5

Add Ice

Add 3 large ice cubes to the glass. Large cubes melt slower and will keep your drink colder for longer without diluting it too quickly.

6

Stir the Cocktail

Gently stir the mixture with a bar spoon or a regular spoon for about 10-15 seconds to combine the ingredients and chill the drink.

7

Garnish

Express the oils from a piece of orange peel over the drink by holding it over the glass and giving it a gentle twist. Then, drop the peel into the glass as a garnish.

8

Finish with Cherry

Optionally, add a maraschino cherry to the drink for an extra touch of sweetness and garnish.
