Cocktail
Optional (for bar prep)
Method
Cocktail
Muddle
Place the Luxardo or maraschino cherry and 0.25 oz simple syrup in a mixing glass or lowball. Gently muddle just until the cherry breaks and releases its juices — avoid over-mashing to prevent excessive bitterness and pulp.
Combine spirits and bitters
Add 2 oz Angel's Envy bourbon, 0.5 oz dandelion root liqueur, and 3 dashes walnut bitters to the mixing glass with the muddled cherry.
Prepare glass and garnish
Place a large ice cube into a chilled old fashioned (rocks) glass. Strain the stirred cocktail over the large cube, pressing the muddled cherry solids through a fine strainer if you prefer a clearer drink.
Express orange oils
Take an orange peel and hold it over the drink, skin side down. Give it a firm twist to express the oils onto the surface of the cocktail, then rub the peel around the rim and drop it into the glass or set an orange wheel on the rim per the menu description.
Finish
Optional: add an extra cherry for garnish. Serve immediately.
Optional service notes
If you prefer a slightly sweeter drink, increase simple syrup to 0.5 oz. For more walnut character, add an additional dash of walnut bitters. If using pebble ice, stir slightly less to avoid over-dilution.
