Method

Preparation of Seafood

1

Cook the Octopus

In a pot of boiling water, add the octopus and simmer for about 45 minutes or until tender. Remove and let cool, then chop into bite-sized pieces.

2

Cook the Shrimp

In a separate pot, bring water to a boil and add the shrimp. Cook for 2-3 minutes until they turn pink. Drain and let cool, then chop into bite-sized pieces.

3

Prepare the Crab

If using fresh crab, steam or boil until cooked, then remove the meat from the shell. If using canned, drain the liquid.

4

Cook the Fish

Season the fish fillet with salt and pepper, then grill or pan-sear for about 4-5 minutes per side until cooked through. Let it cool and chop into bite-sized pieces.

5

Prepare the Scallops

Sear scallops in a hot pan with a little oil for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Let cool and chop into smaller pieces.

Mixing the Campechana

6

Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all the chopped seafood (octopus, shrimp, crab, fish, and scallops) with the diced tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, and avocado.

7

Season the Mixture

Add lime juice, salt, black pepper, and hot sauce to the bowl. Mix gently to combine all the ingredients without mashing the avocado.

8

Chill and Serve

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled as a refreshing dish.
