1

Muddle

Place 3 fresh cucumber slices in a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. Add the 15 ml simple syrup and gently muddle 6–8 times to release cucumber juice and aromatics without pulverizing the flesh.

2

Build the cocktail

Add 100 ml Hendrick's Gin and 25 ml fresh lemon juice to the shaker with the muddled cucumber. Fill the shaker with ice (or add to the mixing glass) and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until well chilled.

3

Strain

Double-strain the mixture (use a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer) into a tall Collins glass filled with fresh ice to remove cucumber solids and seeds.

4

Top with soda

Gently top the cocktail with 75 ml club soda (Collins-style soda). Stir once gently with a bar spoon to combine without flattening the soda.

5

Garnish and serve

Thread a thin cucumber ribbon down the inside of the glass or lay it across the top, and float a lemon wheel on the surface as garnish. Serve with a straw if desired.
