12 fl oz Coca-Cola (chilled)1 cup Ice cubes

Optional garnishes

1 piece Lime wedge1 piece maraschino cherry

Method

Prepare glass

Chill glass (optional)

Place the serving glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes before making the drink to keep the Coke colder longer. This step can be skipped if using very cold Coke.

Fill the glass with about 1 cup of ice cubes, leaving some room at the top for the soda to be poured without overflowing.

Assemble

Open a 12 fl oz bottle or can of chilled Coca-Cola. Hold the bottle/can close to the glass and pour slowly down the side of the glass to preserve carbonation and minimize foaming.

Pour until the liquid reaches about 1/2 inch (1 cm) below the rim to avoid spillage.

Garnish and serve

If desired, squeeze a lime wedge lightly over the surface and drop it into the drink, or place a maraschino cherry on top or on a cocktail pick.

Serve immediately with a straw or napkin. Enjoy while cold.
