Method
Prepare the Coffee
Brew Espresso
Brew 1 cup of espresso coffee using your preferred method (espresso machine, stovetop, etc.). Allow it to cool slightly.
Mix Coffee with Liqueur
In a shallow dish, combine the brewed espresso with 1 tablespoon of coffee liqueur. Set aside to cool completely.
Make the Filling
Whip Cream
In a mixing bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form. Set aside.
Mix Egg Yolks and Sugar
In another bowl, whisk together 3 egg yolks and 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.
Add Mascarpone
Gently fold in 500g of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract into the egg yolk mixture until smooth.
Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined, being cautious not to deflate the whipped cream.
Assemble the Tiramisu
Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger cookie into the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.
Layer Ingredients
In a 9x13 inch dish, arrange a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone filling on top. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers and the remaining filling.
Chill and Serve
Refrigerate
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
Add Toppings
Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings.
Serve
Cut into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy your homemade tiramisu!
