Base Cocktail

Method

Base Cocktail

1

Build and chill

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add vodka, blue curaçao, elderflower liqueur, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup. Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until well chilled.

2

Prepare a highball or large rocks glass by adding a large clear ice cube or filling with crushed ice (about 1 cup).

3

Strain the shaken mixture over the prepared ice, leaving about 1/2 inch of headspace for layering.

4

Top gently with 2 oz chilled club soda. Do not stir—this provides a light effervescent base for layering colors.

Layer & Color Elements (Infinity Stones)

5

Layering technique

To create discrete 'stones' of color, use the back of a bar spoon or the base of a small spoon held just above (not touching) the surface. Pour each 0.25 oz liqueur/ syrup slowly so it floats as a small concentrated dot or streak rather than completely mixing.

6

Begin with crème de cassis (deep purple). Pour 0.25 oz in a slow steady stream over the spoon to place a dark dot near the edge of the glass.

7

Add grenadine (red) as the next dot. Because grenadine is dense it will sink if poured directly; pour gently over the spoon near another edge so it forms a jewel-like pool lower in the glass.

8

Next, add 0.25 oz melon liqueur (green) using the same spoon technique, placing it on the surface so it stays as a distinct area.

9

Add blueberry syrup (indigo) in a small spot, slightly separated from the others.

10

Finish the colored drops with yuzu or yellow chartreuse as the bright gold/yellow stone. Pour gently to keep a distinct color spot.

11

If any drops begin to blend too much, wait 10–15 seconds for liquids to settle; you can use a straw to nudge a dot into place gently.

Garnish & Finish

12

Lightly dust the surface with a pinch of edible gold dust for shimmer (optional). Avoid over-sprinkling to keep colors visible.

13

Garnish the rim with a thin lemon wheel or twist positioned so it does not interfere with the colored dots.

14

Serve with a short stirring straw on the side so guests can taste each 'stone' individually or stir to combine flavors.
