Classic Martini

Method

Classic Martini

1

Chill glass

Place a martini glass in the freezer or fill with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

2

Stir

Fill a mixing glass with the 6 large ice cubes. Add 2.5 oz gin and 0.5 oz dry vermouth. Stir gently for 20–30 seconds until the mixture is very cold and slightly diluted (about 15–20% dilution by feel).

3

Strain & Garnish

Discard ice/water from chilled martini glass and double-strain the cocktail into the glass. Express a lemon twist over the drink (pinch the peel to spray oils across the surface), rub the peel on the rim if desired, then drop it in or skewer a single green olive and add as garnish.

Espresso Martini

4

Brew & cool espresso

Pull a fresh shot of espresso or brew 1 oz strong espresso and let it cool slightly (still warm but not piping hot) so it won't melt too much ice when shaken.

5

Dry shake (if using fresh crema)

If you want extra froth, first combine vodka, coffee liqueur, espresso, 0.5 oz simple syrup and the ice-free shaker and dry shake vigorously for 10 seconds to emulsify.

6

Shake with ice

Add 6 medium ice cubes to the shaker (if you dry-shook, add them now). Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and you see a creamy foam forming.

7

Double strain & garnish

Double strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass to remove ice shards. Garnish with three coffee beans placed on the foam in a triangle.

Downtown Old Fashioned

8

Build in glass

Place 0.25 oz demerara syrup (or 1 tsp demerara sugar + splash water) into a rocks glass. Add 2 dashes angostura bitters and stir briefly to combine.

9

Add spirit & ice

Pour 2.0 oz bourbon over the syrup/bitters, add a single large ice sphere or cube, and stir gently for 20–30 seconds to chill and lightly dilute.

10

Garnish

Express the orange peel over the drink to release oils, run the peel around the rim, then drop it into the glass as garnish. Serve with a short stirring spoon or swizzle stick.

Citrus Gin Fizz (Late Night Bright)

11

Combine & dry shake (if using egg white)

In a shaker, add 1.5 oz gin, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.25 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup and 0.5 egg white (if using). Perform a dry shake (no ice) vigorously for 10–12 seconds to emulsify and create foam.

12

Wet shake

Add 6 medium ice cubes to the shaker and shake again vigorously for 12–15 seconds until well chilled and frothy.

13

Strain & top

Double strain into a chilled highball or Collins glass filled with fresh ice. Top with 2 oz chilled club soda, pouring gently down a bar spoon to preserve the foam if egg white was used.

14

Garnish

Garnish with a lemon wheel on the rim and serve with a straw if desired.
