Method
Preparation
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
Melt Butter
In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
Combine Wet Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs. Add the melted butter and vanilla extract, and mix well until fully combined.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
Add Optional Ingredients
If desired, fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts until evenly distributed.
Baking
Pour the Batter
Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Cool and Cut
Remove from the oven and let the brownies cool in the pan for about 10 minutes. Then, lift the brownies out of the pan using the parchment paper and let them cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into squares.
