Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or Nick & Nora glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while preparing the cocktail.

2

Combine ingredients

In a mixing glass, add 1.75 oz Slane Irish Whiskey, 0.5 oz Amaretto, 0.75 oz Cappelletti, 0.5 oz fresh yuzu juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters.

3

Add ice & stir

Fill the mixing glass about two-thirds full with ice. Stir gently and consistently for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 full strokes) until the mixture is well chilled, slightly diluted, and glossy.

4

Prepare glass

Discard the ice water from the chilled glass (if used) and, if desired, run the twist of yuzu or lemon around the rim to add aroma.

5

Strain

Double-strain the cocktail from the mixing glass into the chilled coupe or Nick & Nora using a Hawthorne or julep strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove small ice shards and any pulp from the yuzu.

Garnish / Finish

6

Express the citrus oils: hold the yuzu or lemon twist over the drink and give it a firm squeeze to release the oils, then rub the twist along the glass rim and drop it into the cocktail as a garnish. Optionally give one small spritz of expressed yuzu oil over the surface for an extra aromatic lift.
