Method

Preparation of Batter

1

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Whisk together until well mixed.

2

Add Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and egg. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until you achieve a smooth batter. Let it rest for about 15 minutes.

Onion Preparation

3

Slice the Onions

Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4-inch thick rings. Carefully separate the rings and set them aside.

Frying

4

Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can check the temperature using a thermometer or by dropping a small amount of batter into the oil; it should sizzle immediately.

5

Coat the Onion Rings

Dip each onion ring into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated, and allow any excess batter to drip off.

6

Fry the Onion Rings

Carefully place the coated onion rings into the hot oil in batches. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan.

7

Drain and Serve

Once cooked, remove the onion rings from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve immediately while hot.
