Cocktail
Optional / for chilling & finishing
Method
Prep
Chill glass
Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure the finished drink is well chilled.
If using fresh pineapple juice and lemon juice, squeeze and measure them now to ensure accuracy.
Mixing
Combine ingredients
Add vodka (2 oz), black raspberry liqueur (0.5 oz), pineapple juice (1.5 oz), fresh lemon juice (0.25 oz), and optional simple syrup (0.25 oz if using) into a cocktail shaker.
Add ice
Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup or enough to nearly fill the shaker).
Shake vigorously
Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold to the touch and the outside is frosty. This creates a light froth and properly chills and dilutes the drink.
Finish & Serve
Strain
Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled martini or coupe glass using a fine-mesh strainer and the shaker strainer to remove small ice shards for a silky texture.
Garnish and serve
Garnish with a single fresh raspberry placed on a pick or a lemon twist expressed over the drink and dropped in. Serve immediately.
