1

Prepare oranges

Wash the oranges under cool running water to remove any wax or residues. Pat dry. Roll each orange firmly on the counter with the palm of your hand to help release the juice inside.

2

Cut and juice

Cut each orange in half crosswise. Use a manual citrus juicer or an electric citrus press to extract the juice from all halves into a bowl or pitcher. If using a blender, peel and segment the oranges, remove as many seeds as possible, blend briefly until smooth, then strain through a fine-mesh sieve to remove pulp as desired.

3

Strain (optional)

If you prefer pulp-free juice, pour the freshly extracted juice through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean pitcher, pressing the solids with the back of a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible.

4

Adjust consistency and sweetness

Taste the juice. If it is too strong or thick, stir in up to 1 cup of cold water until it reaches your preferred consistency (start with 1/4 cup and increase). If you prefer sweeter juice, dissolve granulated sugar in 1–2 tablespoons of warm water to make a simple syrup, then stir in up to 1 tablespoon (or to taste). Add 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice if you like a brighter flavor.

5

Chill and serve

Add ice cubes to the pitcher or glasses if serving immediately. Stir well and pour into glasses. Serve cold. Fresh orange juice is best consumed within 24–48 hours; store tightly covered in the refrigerator.
