Blackberry Infused Vodka

Method

Blackberry Infused Vodka

1

Make the infusion

Place 1 cup fresh blackberries in a clean 16–32 oz jar. Add 1.5 cups Wheatley vodka. Gently muddle the blackberries in the vodka with a spoon to release juices and oils. Seal the jar and let it steep at room temperature for 24 hours for a bright, fresh infusion (up to 48 hours for stronger flavor).

2

After steeping, strain the vodka through a fine mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth into a clean container to remove solids. Press gently on the solids with the back of a spoon to extract as much infused vodka as possible. Discard solids and refrigerate the infused vodka until ready to use.

Cocktail

3

Chill: If desired, chill cocktail glasses (coupe or rocks glass) in the freezer for 5–10 minutes.

4

Add to shaker: In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz blackberry-infused vodka, 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.75 oz simple syrup, and a generous handful of ice (about 1 cup).

5

Shake: Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and a good frost forms. This both chills and dilutes the drink to balance flavors.

6

Double strain (recommended): Strain the cocktail through a fine mesh strainer into a chilled coupe or rocks glass over fresh ice if you prefer it on the rocks. Double straining removes seeds and pulp for a clean presentation.

7

Top & garnish: If desired, top with 1 oz soda water for a lighter, slightly fizzy finish. Garnish with 2 fresh blackberries skewered on a pick and a lemon wheel or twist on the rim.

8

Serve: Present immediately. Stir lightly if topped with soda to integrate.
