Method

Biscuits Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well mixed.

3

Cut in Butter

Add the cold unsalted butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

4

Add Milk

Pour in the milk and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

5

Form Biscuits

Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently 5-6 times. Pat into a 1-inch thick round and cut out biscuits with a floured biscuit cutter.

6

Bake Biscuits

Place biscuits on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Gravy Preparation

7

Cook Sausage

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until browned and crumbly, about 5-7 minutes.

8

Make Roux

Sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage, stirring to combine and cook for 1-2 minutes until the flour is lightly browned.

9

Add Milk

Slowly pour in the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 5 minutes.

10

Season

Season the gravy with black pepper and salt to taste, stirring well to combine.
