Method
Whole Fruit
Wash and dry
Rinse all berries, grapes, kiwi, and melon under cold running water. Pat dry thoroughly with paper towels or a clean kitchen towel to avoid excess moisture on the tray.
Prep grapes and berries
Remove any stems and discard bruised pieces. For grapes, leave small clusters intact if desired or separate into small bite-size clusters for easier picking. Hull strawberries and halve or quarter them depending on size.
Cut pineapple and melon
Trim and core the pineapple; slice away rind and cut flesh into 1-inch bite-size chunks. For melon, halve, remove seeds, peel, and cut into similar 1-inch cubes.
Slice kiwi and apples
Peel the kiwis and slice into 1/4-inch rounds or half-moons. Core and slice the apples into thin wedges, then immediately toss apple slices in about 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (not listed as separate ingredient — use from pantry) to prevent browning; arrange to one side until assembling.
Accents & Garnish
Toast almonds (if using): place sliced almonds in a dry skillet over medium heat and toast, stirring frequently, until fragrant and lightly golden, 3–5 minutes. Transfer to a plate to cool.
Wash and pat dry mint leaves and gently tear larger leaves in half so they nestle on the tray. Keep edible flowers aside on a paper towel in the fridge until ready to use.
Simple Honey-Lime Drizzle (optional)
Whisk drizzle: In a small bowl combine honey, fresh lime juice, orange zest, and a pinch of fine sea salt. Whisk until smooth and slightly loose. Taste and adjust: add a little more honey if too tart or a few drops of water to thin if too thick.
Assemble the Tray
Choose a platter or shallow serving tray large enough to hold all fruit in single or slightly overlapping layers. A rimmed wooden board or ceramic platter works well.
Start with larger fruit clusters: Arrange pineapple chunks and melon cubes in two separate sections to create anchors for the composition.
Add contrast and color: Place strawberry groups, kiwi slices, and apple wedges in alternating clusters around the pineapple and melon, leaving small gaps for grapes and blueberries.
Fill gaps with grapes and blueberries: Tuck small clusters of red and green grapes and scattered blueberries into the remaining spaces to create a full, abundant look.
Finish with accents: Sprinkle toasted almonds lightly over the sections where nuts are desired. Tuck mint leaves and edible flowers strategically for visual appeal and aroma. If using, drizzle the honey-lime mixture sparingly over berries and sliced fruit right before serving — avoid drizzling on apple slices until ready to serve to prevent extra sogginess.
