Cocktail

Optional: Cinnamon Syrup (makes ~6 oz)

Method

Optional: Cinnamon Syrup (make ahead)

1

Prepare cinnamon syrup

Combine 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar and 2 cinnamon sticks in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring until sugar dissolves. Simmer 5 minutes with the cinnamon sticks, then remove from heat and cool to room temperature. Remove cinnamon sticks and transfer syrup to a sealed container. Chill. Yields about 6 oz; use 1/4 oz per cocktail.

Rim & Garnish Prep

2

On a small plate combine 1 tablespoon granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Rub the lime wedge around the rim of a coupe or martini glass, then dip the rim into the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat. Place the glass in the freezer (optional) to chill while you build the cocktail.

3

Reserve a few pomegranate arils (about 1 tablespoon) for garnish. Squeeze the lime wedge and set aside any remaining fresh juice if needed.

Build & Serve

4

Shake the cocktail

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz vodka, 2 oz chilled pomegranate juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, and 0.25 oz cinnamon syrup (or 1/4 oz cinnamon liqueur). Fill the shaker with ice (about 6 cubes). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until well chilled.

5

Double strain & pour

Strain the cocktail through the shaker strainer into a chilled, cinnamon-sugar rimmed coupe or martini glass. For a very smooth presentation, double strain through a fine mesh strainer to catch any ice shards or pulp.

6

Garnish

Float the reserved pomegranate arils on the surface (about 1 tablespoon) and optionally drop a thin lime wheel or twist onto the rim. Serve immediately.
