Method
Preparation
Cook the Protein
If using raw protein, cook it according to your preference (grilled, sautéed, etc.) until fully cooked and seasoned with salt and pepper.
Prepare the Rice and Beans
If you haven't done so already, cook the rice according to package instructions. Heat the black beans in a small pot until warmed through. Season with salt and pepper.
Assemble the Burrito
Warm the Tortillas
Heat the flour tortillas in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side until warm and pliable.
Fill the Tortilla
Lay a warm tortilla flat on a clean surface. In the center, add a scoop of cooked rice (about 1/2 cup), followed by 1/4 cup of black beans, and 1/4 cup of your cooked protein.
Add Optional Fillings
If desired, top with shredded cheese, sour cream, salsa, and avocado/guacamole.
Roll the Burrito
Fold and Roll
Fold the sides of the tortilla inward over the filling, then starting from the bottom, roll the tortilla tightly until the burrito is sealed.
Serve
Enjoy Your Burrito
Cut the burrito in half if desired and serve with extra salsa or sour cream on the side.
