1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill with ice water to chill while you build the cocktail.

2

Combine ingredients

In a shaker, add 1 oz Green Chartreuse, 1 oz gin, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup.

3

Add ice and shake

Add 4 large ice cubes to the shaker. Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker is cold and slightly frosted. The goal is to properly dilute and chill the drink so the Chartreuse's herbal intensity is balanced.

4

Prepare glass

If you chilled the glass with ice water, dump it now. Strain the cocktail through a fine or Hawthorne strainer into the chilled coupe or martini glass.

5

Garnish and serve

Express the oils of a lemon twist over the surface of the drink by holding the twist skin-side down and pinching it firmly about an inch above the cocktail. Run the twist's rim around the glass edge and drop it into the drink or rest it on the rim. Serve immediately.
