Method
Gin Base
Measure spirits
Combine 2 oz London dry gin and 0.5 oz dry vermouth in a mixing glass or cocktail shaker. These form the transparent spirit-forward backbone of the Invisible Gin.
Clarifying / Clarified Citrus
Prepare citrus clarification
In a separate small bowl, combine 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.25 oz fresh lime juice and 0.5 oz cold water. Add 1 large egg white and whisk vigorously until the mixture is frothy and slightly thickened. The egg white will act as a clarifying agent and lend a silky texture.
Combine with spirits (optional quick clarification)
Pour the citrus + egg-white mix into the shaker with the gin and vermouth. Do a dry shake (no ice) vigorously for 20–30 seconds to emulsify and begin protein coagulation. This creates a faintly opalescent texture that will become clearer after chilling and straining.
Sweetening & Aromatics
Add sweetener and aromatics
Add 0.5 oz simple syrup and 2 drops of orange blossom water to the shaker. If you want a subtle floral tea note, add the optional 0.25 tsp crushed dry chamomile or white tea. The small amount preserves clarity while balancing the citrus and spirit.
Finishing & Garnish
Shake with ice
Add ice (about 1 cup or a full shaker of ice) to the shaker. Shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch. This chills and further clarifies the mixture while creating a silky mouthfeel from the egg white.
Double strain and optional clarification step
Double-strain the cocktail through a fine mesh strainer (and a superfine cloth or coffee filter if you want extra clarity) into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass. If you used a coffee filter, let the cocktail slowly drip through for a minute — this will remove fine proteins and make the drink appear more 'invisible' (very slightly translucent).
Garnish and aromatics
Express the oils of a lemon twist over the surface and discard or place the twist at the rim. Optionally drop 1–2 neutral-flavored clear agar beads or edible clear gel for an aesthetic 'invisible pearls' look. Serve immediately.
