Beer Cocktails & Garnish

Method

Beer Cocktails & Garnish

1

Prepare glass

If you prefer a salted rim, rub the lime wedge around the outer rim of a chilled pint or beer glass. Pour the coarse or seasoned salt onto a small plate, then gently press the rim into the salt so it adheres evenly. If you prefer no rim, skip this step.

2

Build base

Pour the fresh lime juice (0.5 oz) and simple syrup (0.25 oz) into the bottom of the prepared glass. Add 2 dashes of orange bitters. If using ice, add 4 ice cubes now—note that ice will chill but also slightly dilute the beer; for minimal dilution serve without ice.

3

Add beer

Slowly pour 12 oz of cold premium lager (Kokanee or similar) into the glass over the back of a spoon or by tilting the glass slightly to reduce foaming. Pour gently to preserve carbonation and avoid overflow.

4

Finish & garnish

Give the drink a very gentle stir (one or two slow swirls) to integrate the lime, syrup and bitters without flattening the beer. Squeeze the reserved lime wedge over the top for a final burst of aroma, then drop it into the glass as garnish. Serve immediately while cold and effervescent.
