Caramelize the Orange Slice

In a small skillet over medium heat, place a thin slice of orange. Sprinkle a small amount of sugar over the slice and allow it to caramelize for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove from heat and let it cool.

Prepare the Glass

In an old-fashioned glass, place the ice cubes. Add the simple syrup and jalapeno smoked bitters over the ice.

Mix the Drink

Pour the Buffalo Trace Bourbon over the ice and bitters mixture. Stir gently to combine the ingredients.

Garnish the drink with the caramelized orange slice and top it with a dark maraschino cherry.
