Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Prep basil

Lightly clap or bruise 4 of the basil leaves between your palms to release the aroma. Reserve 2 whole leaves for garnish and one extra to muddle.

2

Muddle

In the cocktail shaker, place the extra basil leaf and the simple syrup (if using). Gently muddle 4–6 times—just enough to release oils. Do not pulverize; you want aroma, not bulky bits.

3

Combine ingredients

Add ice to the shaker (about 3/4 full), then pour in the Alibi gin (2 oz), limoncello (1/2 oz), strawberry lemonade (3 oz), and fresh lemon juice (1/4 oz).

4

Shake

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.

5

Strain

Fill your chilled rocks glass with fresh ice (crushed or cubes). Double strain the cocktail into the glass using a Hawthorne and fine strainer to catch basil bits and any pulp from the lemonade.

6

Finish

Top with a splash (about 1 oz) of club soda if you prefer a lighter, effervescent drink. Gently stir once with a bar spoon to integrate.

Garnish & serve

7

Thread the reserved basil leaves and a thin strawberry slice on a pick or lay them gently on the drink. Express a basil leaf over the cocktail (clap between hands) to release oils onto the surface, then drop it in.

8

Serve immediately with a straw or without. Provide an extra basil leaf or strawberry on the side if desired.
