Method

Preparation of Ginger Syrup

1

Prepare the Ginger

Peel the fresh ginger root and slice it into thin pieces.

2

Make the Syrup

In a saucepan, combine the sliced ginger, granulated sugar, and 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.

3

Simmer

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 30 minutes to extract the ginger flavor.

4

Strain the Syrup

After simmering, strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl to remove the ginger pieces. Allow the syrup to cool completely.

5

Add Lemon Juice

Once the syrup is cool, stir in the lemon juice for added flavor.

Mixing the Ginger Ale

6

Combine Ingredients

In a pitcher, combine 1 cup of the ginger syrup with 4 cups of carbonated water. Stir gently to mix.

7

Taste and Adjust

Taste the mixture and adjust sweetness by adding more syrup if needed.

8

Serve

Pour the ginger ale into glasses filled with ice. Optionally, garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves.
