Classic Gin Basil Smash

Method

Classic Gin Basil Smash

1

Prepare and Muddle

Place 8 fresh basil leaves in a cocktail shaker. Add 0.75 oz fresh lemon juice and 0.75 oz simple syrup. Gently muddle the basil with the citrus and syrup — press enough to bruise the leaves and release aroma but avoid shredding into bits.

2

Shake

Add 2 oz London dry gin and a cup of ice to the shaker. Shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold to the touch and the exterior is frosted.

3

Strain and Serve

Double-strain into a chilled rocks glass filled with fresh ice (use a fine mesh strainer to remove basil fragments). Top with one cup of serving ice as needed. Garnish with a single basil sprig tucked beside the glass. Serve immediately.

Smoky Mezcal Paloma

4

Rim Glass

Run a grapefruit wedge around the rim of a highball glass and dip into salt or Tajín to coat the edge evenly.

5

Build Cocktail

Fill the rimmed glass with ice. Add 2 oz mezcal, 2 oz fresh grapefruit juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice and 0.5 oz agave syrup directly into the glass. Stir gently to combine and slightly chill (about 6–8 stirs).

6

Top and Garnish

Top with 2 oz chilled soda water and give one gentle stir to integrate. Garnish with a grapefruit wedge on the rim. Serve with a straw if desired.

Espresso Old Fashioned

7

Combine Ingredients

In a mixing glass add 2 oz bourbon, 0.5 oz cooled fresh espresso, 0.25 oz coffee liqueur (optional), 0.25 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters.

8

Stir and Chill

Fill the mixing glass with ice and stir gently for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted (about 10–15% dilution).

9

Serve

Strain over one large ice cube in a rocks glass. Express an orange twist over the drink (pinch to release oils) and drop or rest the twist on the rim as garnish. Serve immediately.
