Burger Patties

Burger Assembly

Method

Prepare the Burger Patties

1

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

2

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape them into round patties, about ¾ inch thick.

3

Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Cook the Burger Patties

4

Preheat your grill or stovetop skillet over medium-high heat.

5

Place the burger patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side.

6

Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired doneness.

7

If using cheese, add a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking and cover to melt.

Assemble the Burger

8

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato and onion into thin rings.

9

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.

10

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked beef patty, tomato slices, and onion rings.

11

Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then top with the other half of the bun.
