Method
Preparing the Fries
Cut the Potatoes
Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into thin strips or wedges, about 1/4 inch thick.
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Drain and Dry
After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a kitchen towel.
Toss with Olive Oil and Salt
In a large bowl, toss the dried potato strips with olive oil and salt until evenly coated.
Bake the Fries
Spread the potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
Cooking the Steak
Season the Steak
Generously season both sides of the beef steaks with salt and black pepper.
Heat the Pan
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
Sear the Steak
Add the seasoned steaks to the hot skillet. Sear for 4-5 minutes on one side without moving them.
Check Doneness
Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. It should read 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare. Adjust cooking time for desired doneness.
Rest the Steak
Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a plate for about 5 minutes before slicing. This helps to retain the juices.
