Black Currant Sauce

Oat Crumble Topping

Method

Malabi Base

1

Prepare the Mixture

In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, cornstarch, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk together until smooth.

2

Cook the Mixture

Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring continuously until the mixture thickens (about 5-7 minutes).

3

Chill the Mixture

Once thickened, remove from heat and pour into serving cups. Allow to cool at room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours to set.

Black Currant Sauce

4

Prepare the Sauce

In a small saucepan, combine black currants, water, sugar, and lemon juice.

5

Cook the Sauce

Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes until the currants are soft and the sauce thickens slightly.

6

Cool the Sauce

Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly. You can blend it for a smoother texture if desired.

Oat Crumble Topping

7

Mix the Ingredients

In a bowl, combine oats, brown sugar, flour, and a pinch of salt. Melt the butter and mix it into the dry ingredients until crumbly.

8

Bake the Crumble

Spread the mixture on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10-12 minutes or until golden brown, stirring halfway through.

9

Cool the Crumble

Remove from oven and let it cool before using as a topping.
