Method

Preparation

1

Preparing the Potatoes

Start by washing the russet potatoes thoroughly under cold water. Peel the potatoes if desired, then cut them into thin strips, approximately 1/4 inch thick.

2

Soaking the Potatoes

Place the cut potato strips in a large bowl filled with cold water. Allow them to soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, which helps to achieve extra crispiness.

Cooking

3

Heating the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accurate temperature.

4

Drying the Potatoes

Once the potatoes have soaked, drain them and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

5

Frying the Potatoes

Carefully add a handful of the dried potato strips to the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove them from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

6

Seasoning the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika to taste. Toss gently to coat the fries evenly.

Serving

7

Adding Creepy Garnishes

For a creepy effect, arrange the fries on a serving platter. Add black olives as 'eyes', a dollop of sour cream to create a 'spooky' effect, and sprinkle chopped chives for a pop of color.

8

Enjoy!

Serve the creepy fries immediately while hot and crispy. Enjoy them as a delicious snack or side dish!
