Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or Nick & Nora glass in the freezer or fill with ice water to chill while you build the cocktail.

2

Measure and combine

Add 1 oz Bulleit bourbon, 1 oz Aperol, 1 oz Amaro Nonino and 0.75 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice into a cocktail shaker.

3

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup or enough to nearly fill the shaker). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold to the touch and the outside develops light frost.

4

Prepare glass

If you chilled the glass with ice water, empty it now. If you used the freezer, remove the glass and ensure it is chilled.

5

Double strain and serve

Strain the cocktail through a fine-mesh strainer into the chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass to remove small ice shards and any pulp from the lemon juice.

6

Garnish

Express a lemon peel over the drink to release the oils, rub the peel around the rim if desired, then drop the twist into the cocktail as a garnish.

7

Enjoy

Serve immediately. The Paper Plane is meant to be enjoyed chilled and balanced — sip and appreciate the bright lemon, bitter Aperol and herbal Nonino against the bourbon backbone.
