Preparation

1

Chill the Glass

Begin by chilling a cocktail glass. You can do this by filling it with ice water and letting it sit while you prepare the drink.

2

Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing glass, combine 2 oz of rye whiskey, 1 oz of sweet vermouth, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters. Fill the mixing glass with ice.

3

Stir the Mixture

Stir the mixture gently for about 20-30 seconds until well chilled and properly diluted.

4

Strain into Glass

Empty the ice water from the chilled cocktail glass. Using a strainer, pour the mixed ingredients into the chilled glass.

5

Garnish

Garnish your Rob Roy with a maraschino cherry and an orange twist. To create the twist, use a peeler or knife to cut a thin strip of orange peel, twisting it over the drink to release its oils before placing it in.
