Cocktail
Optional: Salted or Sugar Rim
Method
Cocktail
Prepare glass (optional)
If you want a rimmed glass, run the lime wedge around the outer edge of a chilled coupe or rocks glass. Dip the rim into a shallow plate of coarse sea salt or superfine sugar until evenly coated. Set the glass aside to chill.
Combine ingredients
Add 2 oz Deep Eddy Vodka, 1 oz fresh blood orange juice, 0.5 oz orange liqueur, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup (if using) into a cocktail shaker.
Add ice and shake
Add 6 ice cubes to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12β15 seconds until the shaker becomes very cold to the touch and the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.
Strain and serve
Double-strain (with a cocktail strainer and a fine mesh strainer if available) into the prepared chilled coupe or into a rocks glass over fresh ice, depending on preference. The double strain removes pulp and small ice shards for a smooth texture.
Garnish and finish
Float a blood orange wheel or a thin orange twist on the surface. Optionally, express a lime or orange peel over the drink to release oils, then drop it in. Serve immediately.
