Cake Layers
Prepare the Oven and Pans
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour three 9-inch round cake pans.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
Cream Butter and Sugar
In another bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Bake the Layers
Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cool the Layers
Once baked, remove the cakes from the oven and allow them to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
Frosting
Make the Frosting
In a medium bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Gradually add the powdered sugar, mixing well to combine. Add the heavy cream and vanilla extract, then beat until fluffy and spreadable.
Assembly and Decoration
Assemble the Cake
Once the cake layers have completely cooled, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of frosting on top. Repeat with the second layer and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.
Decorate the Cake
Top the cake with fresh fruits and, if desired, decorate with edible flowers for a beautiful presentation.
Slice and Serve
Cut the cake into generous slices and serve. Enjoy your extra tall layered cake!
