Seafood Avocado Cocktail

This could very well be the ultimate seafood cocktail, served with a light-bodied sauce instead of the typical red glop. With lots of vegetables to balance the chunks of shrimp and crab, it can be served as a salad as well as a palate- and eye-pleasing appetizer.

Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Crab Mixture

In a medium bowl, gently fold together the lump crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, hot sauce, finely chopped celery, green onions, salt, and black pepper until well combined. Be careful not to break up the crab meat too much.

2

Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the crab mixture for at least 30 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together.

Serving

3

Plate the Crab

Once chilled, use a spoon to scoop the crab mixture into serving dishes or onto a platter.

4

Garnish

Sprinkle paprika over the top for color, and add chopped fresh parsley for garnish. Serve with lemon wedges on the side.
