Marinade

Method

Preparing the Marinade

1

Mix the Marinade

In a small bowl, combine the grated fresh ginger, wasabi paste, fresh citrus juice, soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well blended.

Marinating the Tuna

2

Prepare the Tuna

Place the fresh tuna steaks in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag.

3

Add Marinade

Pour the marinade over the tuna steaks, ensuring they are evenly coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish with plastic wrap.

4

Marinate

Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. For best results, marinate for up to 2 hours.

Cooking and Serving

5

Cook the Tuna

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the tuna from the marinade, reserving the marinade for later use. Cook the tuna steaks on the grill or skillet for about 2-3 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer depending on your desired doneness.

6

Optional - Add Sesame Seeds

If using, sprinkle sesame seeds over the tuna steaks during the last minute of cooking.

7

Garnish and Serve

Remove the tuna from the heat and let it rest for a minute. Slice the tuna steaks and serve garnished with chopped green onions. Drizzle with some of the reserved marinade if desired.
